Join Primary Source as we welcome Gilberto Rivera and his band, Rumbanamá, for a fun-filled afternoon exploring Latin American music and culture.

Through interactive storytelling and song, Gilberto will captivate both children and adults as he brings historical legends from Puerto Rican history to life. Learn about the influences of Taíno, European, and African cultures on Puerto Rican music as Gilberto and his band demonstrate musical styles on different instruments. Children will have a chance to ask questions and try out a variety of percussion instruments during the demonstration.

Gilberto and his band will end the afternoon with a performance showcasing Afro-Caribbean dance rhythms from the Antilles—dancing and singing along is encouraged!

Watch a video clip of a Rumbanamá performance.

Recommended for families with children ages 4-12.
